Well the biggest key to wakesurfing once you have chosen the right size PHASE 5 for you, Is getting the boat set up. First things first NEVER WAKESURF CLOSE TO THE BACK OF A OUTBOARD/IO MOTOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

Weighting the boat is a crucial part of wakesurfing. If you have a newer Wakeboard style boat you most likely have built in Ballast tanks. These usaully are located on either side of the motor and one in the center of the boat under the floor. If you have a ski style boat or older wake boat without built in ballast you can use fat sacs that are sold at most retail shops carrying Wakeboard accessories.

What you want to try and achieve with weighting your boat is to get it to list or lean over to the side that you are riding on. i.e regular foot riders would want the boat to lean to the port side. to do this you will want to start with filling your ballast in on the side your riding in the rear. You can also try and fill both rear tanks for the extra weight ion the back of the boat. You will want to fill your center ballast as well. Now you can add fat savs for extra weight. The best place to add these is In the back corner of the boat on the same side your riding. You can also lay them acroos seats on that same side. Every boat is different so you have to go out and try different things. You can add weight to the bow of the boat and this will give you a longer wake. However it usually will also make the wake a little smaller.  Just try different weights and speeds untill you get it where you want.

The other key is the speed. Usually between 10.5 and 12.5 are ideal. However with different weights and boats this will vary. The best way to get it dialed in is to have a rider behind the boat with the rope. Get them up and riding and have them surf but continue hangin on to the rope. You then can adjust speeds and see where it works the best. With the rider holding on you can do so without having to stop and pick them up if the speed is to much.
