Nose Grab
The front hand grabs the nose of the board.

Ollie
Invented on skateboarding ramps by Ollie Gelfand. A wakesurfer traveling over water can push down with his or her back foot and lift up with the front foot. In doing this the wakesurfer is able to pull the board into the air with him as he jumps.

Pop-Shuvit
A shuvit mixed with an ollie. Enables shuvits to be performed higher.

Pro
A professional. The highest level of competition. A wakesurfer who competes to earn prize money and works directly with board manufacturers to progress board design and the sport.

Pressure Ding
A pressure ding is really just a place on the board where the foam has been crushed. This often occurs on the deck of the board where your heel goes. They are generally harmless unless they lead to delamination.

Pumping
Pumping is when you fade back on the wave and then us ethe face of the wake to gain speed. By doing quick top to bottom turns to generate speed. This takes getting use to, but is the key to doing bigger airs

Rail
The outer edge of a board.

Regular
Someone who has a regular stance of left foot forward. The opposite of goofy-footed.

Revert
Finishing a trick coming out forwards, then quickly sliding round 180 to come out fakie.

Reverse
An aerial, off-the lip, or re-entry that brings the tail of the board 180 degrees around to ride tail first in.

Roast Beef
A grab where the rear hand reaches between the legs and grabs the heel edge rail.

Rocker
Rocker is the curvature in the board from nose to tail. It is important to have enough ROCKER so you don't stuff the nose all the time, but too much rocker will make a board slower.

Session
The act of riding or the time spent riding.

Shuv-it
A maneuver in which the wakesurfer spins the board under his/her feet without turning their body. A pop-shuvit is when this maneuver is done in combination with an aerial and the entire board comes out of the water. This trick is a intermediate move when it is performed on teh surface but can be an advanced move when performed in the air or with a grab combination.

Sketchy
Just about landing tricks. Someone who lands a trick, wobbles about and generally just about lands the trick is sketchy.

Stalefish
A grab where the rear hand grabs the heel edge rail behind the rear leg and in between the bindings while the rear leg is poked.

Stance
The position of the feet while naturally standing on the wakesurf board. Either regular of goofy.
|
Switchstance
Riding opposite your normal stance (the stance that you did not learn to ride). If you are regular footed, riding goofy footed, and visa versa. "Switch" for short. |
