TEAM | Currently with Luke Hutcherson

Luke Hutcherson is a tech skim style rider who comes to us from Stillwater, OK. He recently flipped the switch in 2025 and started to compete in the professional ranks. This decision paid off for him when he took his first pro win and we couldn’t be more stoked for him. Get to know him a bit better below!

PHASE 5: Luke, what’s up? Where do you reside and who do you usually shred with?
Luke: Hey, what's going on! I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and ride on Lake Carl Blackwell. I usually go out and ride with my friends, my sister, and anyone else who wants to get out on the water!

PHASE 5: How has the off-season been treating you?
Luke: The off-season has been great! Other than one cold snap it was a relatively mild winter, so I was able to surf consistently the whole time and learn new tricks!

PHASE 5: How was your 2025 season? What were some of the highlights?
Luke: My 2025 season was one of my favorites yet! Some of the highlights included earning my first professional win and finishing third at the World Wakesurf Championship. I also stepped into a judging role with the WWA, which has been a great experience! I spent a lot of time coaching and giving wakesurf lessons as well, which has been really rewarding and a fun way to help grow the sport. Outside of wakesurfing, I also earned my private pilot license, which definitely kept me busy as well!

PHASE 5: What do you have planned for 2026?
Luke: I am very excited for the 2026 season! I plan to continue giving lessons while also having a strong competitive season. I will also be attending a few new competitions this year that I have not been to before, so I am really looking forward to that experience!

PHASE 5: Do you have any events you’re particularly excited for?
Luke: I am very excited for the new New York competition that Centurion is hosting! I have never been up there before so I plan to stay a couple days after and check it out. I am always excited for the World Championship as well! It is in Winter Haven, Florida again!

PHASE 5: What about your trick list? What do you have in mind to stomp this year that’s new for you?
Luke: Now that the off-season is coming to a close, I am working to gain consistency for the new tricks I learned this off-season! A few of those tricks were Frontside 5 Big, Switch Canadian Shuv, and always working on consistency for the elusive 720 shuv haha! From this point on I would like to land a Frontside 540 shuv and a 9 big this year!

PHASE 5: What’s a typical day on the water look like for you?
Luke: A typical day on the water usually starts with getting the boat set up and warming up with a few surf sets. After that I’ll spend time working on new tricks then dialing in runs for competitions. In the summers I am also giving lessons, which I really enjoy because it is fun helping others progress and get more into the sport. It’s a mix of training, coaching, and just enjoying being out on the water!

PHASE 5: Thanks for catching up with us, Luke. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
Luke: Of course! I am excited for this next season on my new 2026 Phase Five Key, and as always RideP5!
