TEAM | “In The Camera Roll” with Sammy G

  • 4 min read

The next rider that we’re diving into their camera roll is the Viper man himself, Sammy Goncalves. Sammy is another rider that stays on the move and racks up a ton of pictures. Check out some of his favorites from the 2026 season now!

These 2 photos are from a coaching trip I took up in Winnipesaukee, NH! It was a super fun week with the family I was working with up there, and when I was off the clock, I got to check out the awesome town and go on some great adventures. The left photo is me and my girlfriend on a zipline that travels all the way down a major Skiing resort in the area! It was insanely fast with some unreal views, especially from the peak! Our guide was amazing; he snapped our photo all strapped in before we headed down the mountain! Along with this, we found a bunch of sweet ways to spend time up there, from hiking to rock climbing to hitting up the local arcade; we made a great week of it! The photo on the right is me doing a gainer off a crow’s nest that belonged to one of my client’s friends! We all hung out, swam around, and threw some tricks off the top! The kids loved to see the flips! Super fun trip!

These 2 photos are from a trip I took to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in a World Series of Wakesurfing event! As a competitive wakesurfer, you’re always on the move, so I have a bunch of cool photos out the window of a plane like this! I love to travel and actually am working to become an airline pilot, so it’s always super cool for me to look out the window and see what my daily view will be in the future. The second photo is in the Fort Worth stockyards. One night, a bunch of us competing all decided to get tickets to their famous stampede! In the picture with me is one of my best friends and P5 team rider who’s in Pro Men Skim, Cade Lybeck, along with his girlfriend, Marissa! The stampede included a bunch of different rodeo disciplines, with the main event being bull riding to end the night. Pretty unique experience I’d love to check out again.

I traveled to Upstate New York (Canandaigua area) a few times this summer. I taught 2 weeks of kids camps up there, which was super fun, and also got to compete in another World Series of Wakesurfing event, The I <3 Surf Classic. The first photo above is from our ‘Salute to Service’ event that we hosted 2 days before the competition. Sponsored by Centurion Boats and Phase 5, we take out military veterans and first responders to let them experience the sport we love so much and let them experience wakesurfing! They all got up and got into the wave to start surfing, which was super cool! The second photo is finals night; we went to a ‘Sublime’ concert, which was unreal! In the photo is my dad and my buddy Freddy, who I teach during the kids camps up there!

Here are 2 of my favorite photos from the Phase 5 photoshoot that took place in Tennessee! The first photo shows my NEW 2027 ‘VIPER’ with an updated graphic I think we absolutely cooked on! This trip was super fun since it was my first time in a proper P5 shoot but also hectic since the filmers (god bless them, they are GRINDING all weekend) have to shoot. every. single. board. in the P5 lineup. The second photo is me surfing with a kid whose family absolutely saved the day! We were a boat down on the last day of the shoot, and these legends came out with us and let us surf and film on their beautiful boat for the whole afternoon! I went out with their son on the board at the end of the day as a thank you! We had a blast out there!

Recently we had the World Wakesurfing Championships in Winter Haven, Florida. I drove down for this competition, and it was a blast! The first photo is me with a girl who I train with a lot and who competes in the U13 division, Emma Proudfit! She’s an up-and-coming shredder who killed it at Worlds; I was super stoked to see her come out of the water and congratulate her! The next photo is myself, Tyler Stewart, and Keenan Flegal on the podium! We all absolutely rode our hearts out, and I was stoked to land in 3rd and stand on the podium with these legends! The final photo is the staging dock where the riders get warmed up, ready, and jump on the water to get picked up by the competition boat. I spend a lot of time around there wishing my friends luck and congratulating them when they get off the water. In the picture (left to right) are competitors Maddie Smith, myself, Cade Lybeck, Dillon Sauvageau, and Tommy Darnell along with their girlfriends.

Those are some of my recent travels! Thank y’all so much for reading and keeping up with me! The past few months have been an absolutely hectic time, and I’m so grateful to do all this traveling with my best friends and family! Until next time, Sammy G out!!!
