PHASE 5: Hi, Jillian! Congrats on joining P5! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from and how did you get into surfing?
Jillian: Hi, I’m Jillian Albright from Prior Lake, Minnesota, with strong family roots in North Dakota. In August 2026, I’ll be attending Ole Miss to study Business Management and Pre-Law.
I grew up on the water, spending countless days on the lake with family and friends. My parents were both professional water skiers for SeaWorld parks, so being behind a boat has always been a huge part of my life.
I started wakesurfing at a young age, but in 2022 I made the decision to step away from competitive dance to fully commit to wakesurfing and competing. I entered my first competitions in 2023, and since then, the journey has been incredible. In 2024, I earned 1st place at Worlds in the Female Amateur Skim Division, and in 2025, I took 1st place at Worlds in the Female Semi-Pro Skim Division.
I’m excited to be part of the P5 team, continue pushing my progression, and build lifelong friendships along the way.
PHASE 5: What are some of your highlights from your surfing career so far?
Jillian: One of my biggest highlights is winning the World Championship in the Amateur division in 2024 and then the Semi Pro division in 2025. My 2025 season was undefeated and it was super fun to travel around the country and spend time with some of my best friends!
PHASE 5: What are your plans for the 2026 season?
Jillian: I plan to spend many hours on the water, whether I’m enjoying the water with friends or families just relaxing, early morning surf runs to enjoy the calm waters, or working at our Marina at the lake. I have a few tricks that I am working forward to mastering and working on consistency!
PHASE 5: Who is your usual riding crew? How do they push you and your riding?
Jillian: My usual riding crew is my friends and family. They always push me to try new things and to never give up. Having a supportive group in the boat makes a huge difference!
PHASE 5: What’s your favorite riding spot and why?
Jillian: My favorite spot is Prior Lake since it is home for me. I grew up on Prior Lake and have spent all my time there. There's nothing better than being out there with the crew!
PHASE 5: Who on the team are you most excited to hang out with and get to know better?
Jillian: I am excited to get to know people I haven't met yet and strengthen friendships I already have.
PHASE 5: What is your favorite memory of surfing?
Jillian: One of my favorite memories is winning Worlds back to back in 2024 and 2025.
PHASE 5: What does a typical day on the water look like for you and your crew?
Jillian: A typical day is just getting out on the water and taking sets! We turn on some music – find our calm place on the water and surf until it’s either too busy or we’re tired. We then spend time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Minnesota summer and sunsets.Time on the lake with my friends is one of my favorite times.
PHASE 5: thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Jillian! Is there anything else you’d like to say before we take off?
Jillian: I want to thank my Mom for supporting me on this journey. My friends for always willing to pull me early in the morning when I need a driver. Minnesota Inboard for their sponsorship. And a special nod to my late Dad who would pull me endlessly around and around the lake and always supported my crazy ideas. And a special thanks to Sean Silveira for his help and guidance over the years.
