The 2026 Crossover Tour, hosted by RDS (Run Drop Slide), features some of the world’s best skimboarders competing across skateboarding, wake, and skimboarding.
Phase 5 stepped up to host the wakesurf portion of the tour, and it was a fun day watching some of the world’s top skimboarders put their wakesurfing skills to the test. As many people know, skim athletes tend to transition naturally to wakesurfing—and this crew gave it their best shot.
Each rider competed through two rounds of wakesurf competition, and at the end of the day, John Akerman was crowned champion. Max Smetts finished in 2nd place, with Jack Tenney (aka Savage) rounding out the podium in 3rd.
Along with the winners, we had skim athletes Leo Freitas, Juan Pablo Cortes Real, Cody Newman, Kale Troha, Gio Tomasi, Graham Shelton, Camden White, and Gerardo Valencia join in on the action.
Check out the video to see how some of the world’s best skimboarders handled the transition from skim to surf behind the boat! And check out more images from the day below!
