One of the most common questions we get here at Phase 5 is “what’s the difference between the performance skim and premium skim lines?” Well, we’re here to help and clear the air so you can find the right board for you!
PERFORMANCE SKIM LINE
Our Performance skim line is made up of classic shaped boards that we have developed over the years that have become tried-and-true shapes. From the smallest Shrimp to the CL versions of some of the popular Premium skim boards, the Performance line is made for, well, performance! These boards are made with our Composilite™ Construction for unmatched durability and responsiveness. What’s Composilite™ Construction, you ask? Well, it’s our own process that we have developed that is a very durable molded construction made just for our more entry-level boards. This construction ensures your board will last while also not breaking the bank. This is coupled with our E-Glass™ wrap which is multiple layers of high density E-glass that is built to last.

PREMIUM SKIM LINE
The Premium skim line includes our most top of the line boards. These boards are built to our highest standards so they can put up with the abuse that riders at high levels can inflict upon them and keep bouncing back! The Premium line has multiple types of construction that have their own unique sets of benefits. Check them out below!
CI-V Carbon
- This glass weave incorporates Carbon/Innegra fibers. The innegra is woven into the carbon vertically to give it a unique look with plenty of strength. It’s lightweight and will stand up to anything that’s thrown at it!

Hybrid Carbon Innegra
- This glass weave also incorporates Carbon/Innegra fibers for unmatched durability, strength, and performance. This set up comes standard on some of most popular models.

GatorSkin™
- This glass weave incorporates Carbon/Aramid fibers that bring the durability up even more! It’s super lightweight and allows for a very fast/stiff board for riders who want the most performance.

Pro-Formance XL™
- This extremely light construction technique keeps the weight of the board low so you can flick your tricks that much better!

Copperhead Zylon Carbon
- Featured on our LTD boards, this weave gives the board an unreal look! This golden weave incorporates Zylon/Carbon for stiffness, responsiveness and a cool look on the water.
