Our second to last stop on our UAE tour was with Home Wake Club, nestled squarely in the downtown area of Dubai. Surrounded by the insane architecture that Dubai is known for, we loaded up into the boat and began to cruise out to the riding spot. It was pretty surreal shredding the wave with the buildings, like the tallest skyscraper in the world – the Burj Khalifa, looming in the background.
John Akerman hit the water first and in true John fashion, he threw down with everyone watching on. Tech tricks, big airs…you know John does it all! After he finished his session, team rider Anna Ibragimova, who calls Home Wake Club “home”, took to the water to show us how they do it in Dubai! Style and tech, Anna killed it. Stoked to have you on the team Anna! Next, Markus Lahmer got a session in on the foil with big boosty airs and tight turns. Max Smetts took the spotlight and grabbed John’s MVP for a nice, cruisy set. Markus and John took to the water once more for a doubles session with Markus on the Party Crasher and John on the Gizmo x RSX Flip Foil combo. Good times indeed were had!
