  • 3 min read

It was a whirlwind of excitement as team Phase 5 racked up win after win at the IWWF World Championships in China this past week! We caught up with some of the crew that made the journey to compete to see how everything went down! For most, this was the farthest from home they’ve ever been! Enjoy some BTS shots from the event and some snippets from the riders themselves!

"Being part ofTeam USA has been one of the coolest experiences of my life. Getting to travel across the world, represent my country, and compete in something I love is a pretty awesome feeling. Wearing the USA on my back is something I’m really proud of, and bringing home a gold medal made it even sicker. I’m super thankful for everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. The support has been huge!

One of the best parts was getting to share this experience with my teammates. Everyone showed up every day, supported each other, and gave it their all for the team. We had a ton of fun, made some awesome memories, and showed the world what Team USA is all about.Team USA was seen!

I’m really grateful I got to be part of this team and can’t wait for what’s next!" - Jett Lambert

"Wow, what an incredible experience it was to compete in China with wakesurfers from 20 different countries! It was a dream come true. I feel so blessed that I had both my coaches, Sean and Whitley,  next to me too! I never knew wakesurfing could be on such a high-level platform. Meeting people from different countries was the highlight. It was incredible how they all shared the same passion for the sport as I do. Bringing home gold as an individual was a great accomplishment, but bringing home gold with almost a perfect score as a team was even bigger. This was so much fun, and I hope I get the chance to do it again" - Victoria Moroski

"China was such an amazing experience! I’m so grateful to have represented Team USA at the 2026 IWWF World Wake Surfing Championships, where I was blessed to bring home gold in the Open Women’s Skim category and help our team bring home the overall team gold! It was such a fun trip filled with incredible people, great memories, and some amazing surfing. So thankful for the opportunity to compete on the world stage and be a part of such an awesome team!" - Whitley Roberts

"Being on Team USA was such an honor! I went as the youngest member of the team, and only one of two ten-year-olds in the event. And I got on the podium! Getting there was horrendous and it took nearly 50 hours with flight cancellations and layovers, but worth it!

The last month was definitely a challenge, with WSWS Worlds only a week before on a Centurion. I ride behind a Nautique and had no experience on a Malibu, but Sean helped me transition my run on the new wave just days before we left.

My P5 family was so supportive; they walked me to the dock for every run. The custom USA boards were insane! I'm absolutely in love with the look of my Mindset and plan to ride it through the next season." - Emma Proudfit

" Representing Team USA at the IWWF World Wakesurf Championships in Hangzhou, China was an incredible honor and experience, and one I will never forget. The energy of the team and athletes supporting each other was amazing.  We were by far the loudest and most supportive of all the teams.  It was nerve racking to know that I was not only riding for myself but more importantly for Team USA. The extra pressure was definitely felt.  It was an incredible feeling knowing I earned the individual gold in my division to help lead Team USA to the team gold. Getting to share the experience with great friends and other Phase 5 team riders made the experience that much more memorable." - Declyn Van Der Riet
