TEAM | Welcome Back, Jodi Grassman!

After a five year hiatus, Jodi Grassman is back on the Phase 5 team and we are hyped! Originally from Lake Placid, FL, Jodi has been in the surf game for quite some time and has the accolades to prove it! We are super stoked to have her back representing Phase 5 as she spreads her positive energy and talent to every rider she comes across. So help us in welcoming Jodi Grassman back to team Phase 5!

PHASE 5: Jodi, it’s been a few years…how are you?! Welcome back to Phase 5! How long has it been?
Jodi: I’m doing great! Honestly, it feels really good to be back. Phase 5 has always felt like home to me, so coming back to the team is super special. I think it’s been about five years since I last rode for Phase 5, which is wild to think about. A lot has changed since then, but being back with this crew just feels right.

PHASE 5: We’re hyped to have you back with us. What are you looking forward to most for 2026?
Jodi: I’m really excited to get back on the water with the team and just have fun riding again. I’ve always loved the creative side of wakesurfing too, like board designs, riding styles, and pushing things forward. One thing I’m especially stoked about this year is working with Phase 5 on creating instructional videos and coaching content for riders. I love helping people progress and grow their confidence on the water, whether they’re brand new or already pushing tricks. Growing the sport and sharing that stoke is honestly one of my favorite parts of wakesurfing.

PHASE 5: Do you have any trips planned? What about competitions?
Jodi: Yeah, 2026 is shaping up to be a fun travel year. I’ve got a competition in Japan coming up which I’m really excited about, and later in the summer I’ll be heading to Spain as well. I’m planning to compete throughout the season and just enjoy getting to ride in different places and connect with the wakesurf community around the world.

PHASE 5: Are you stoked to join your first Phase 5 Regatta at the end of the month?! We wanted to surprise all the riders but this is kind of letting the cat out of the bag!
Jodi: Absolutely! I’m super stoked. Events like that are always such a fun way to bring the whole team together. I’m really looking forward to hanging out, seeing old faces I’ve missed and new ones I’m stoked to meet and just being back in the Phase 5 mix again.

PHASE 5: What boards are you stoked to try out this season?
Jodi: I’m really excited to spend time on a few different shapes this year and see what feels best for my riding right now. Phase 5 has always been known for pushing board design forward, so I’m excited to experiment and see what clicks. I’m also looking forward to being part of the creative process again.

PHASE 5: You’ve been part of the sport for a long time. How have you seen wakesurfing evolve?
Jodi: It’s been really cool to watch the sport grow. When I first started, the women’s division was still developing and tricks that are common now were brand new. The level of riding today is incredible. It’s exciting to see younger riders pushing things and I’m stoked to still be part of the progression.

PHASE 5: We’re stoked to have you back with the P5 crew, Jodi! Is there anyone you’d like to thank or any shout outs you’d like to shout out?!
Jodi:Huge thank you to the whole Phase 5 crew for welcoming me back. Drew, Max and the team have always been amazing to work with and it really does feel like coming home. I’m also super grateful for all the people who support me along the way. My sponsors, friends, family, and especially my wife Chelsea who’s always in my corner.
