Markus Lahmer is a long-standing member of the Phase 5 wakesurf team, serving as the brand's first European team rider since signing in 2015 after a strong 2nd-place finish in the Amateur division at the World Wakesurf Championships. Hailing from Austria and based in Vienna, Markus has been a consistent force in the Euro pro scene, earning 2X European Champion titles, multiple event wins (including the opening stop of the 2019 Nautique Wakesurf Series in the Pro Men's division), and maintaining top 10 professional rankings since 2019. His global travel and competition schedule have seen him podium regularly across international events, while his positive attitude, helpful nature, and infectious energy make him a favorite at every contest and team gathering—always ready to shred, share tips, or lend a hand.
Beyond his competitive achievements, Markus is deeply committed to growing wakesurfing in Europe and promoting inclusivity. Through his company Ohana Vienna, he runs wakesurf lessons and has helped push adaptive wakesurfing using the innovative "Cage" device with friend Florian Dungl (the world's first tetraplegic wakesurfer), enabling people with severe disabilities to ride. Their groundbreaking work earned recognition as “Athlete with a Heart” at the Österreichische Sporthilfe Gala in 2021, and they've shared their inclusive project worldwide, from Vienna's Danube Marina to events in Kiev and beyond. A devoted family man and helper in his family's business, Markus balances elite riding with coaching, community building, and inspiring the next generation.
