Caro Villeneuve Spreads the Shred

Words: Loree Duczek

Looking at the accomplishments of Phase 5 Team Rider Caro Villeneuve on paper, it’s easy to see why she is recognized as one of the most prominent and influential wakesurfers in the world. A consistent presence on the podium, she is known for her consistent, technically clean style (not to mention her trademark braid!). And although her competitive achievements are amazing, her greatest contribution to the sport is the way she teaches, guides and supports up and coming riders.

No matter their age or skill, Caro has a way to elevate their riding. She does this through her wakesurfing school at Lake Koocanusa in BC, but she also does it every time she hops in the boat with someone! Caro is also the one person you can depend on to be running up and down the shoreline cheering on riders (especially the Juniors) at events. She always makes a point to congratulate riders on their rides and she is consistently the smiling face on the dock wishing the Juniors the rides of their lives.

Here she is pictured at the 2019 Wake Canada Nautique Canadian Wake Surf Nationals doing what she does best…sending off the juniors with positive encouragement and reinforcement. Caro is a true ambassador for the sport and for the Phase 5 family and we are so grateful to have her influence and leadership.
