Phase 5 team riders Ryder and Dagen Duczek joined nearly 3000 athletes, coaches and officials in the 2022 BC Summer Games this summer, bringing home medals in both surf and wake skate.
The BC Games is the only competition in British Columbia (Canada) that brings athletes from both the Waterski and Wake sports together to compete at the same venue and this was the first BC Summer Games held in four years due to the pandemic. Waterski consisted of Slalom, Trick and Jump while Wake events included Wake Surf, Wake Board, and Wake Skate.

Ryder took Gold in Wakesurf and Gold in Wakeskate, while Dagen took home Silver in Wakesurf and Bronze in Wakeskate. Both boys were part of the Zone 1 (Kootenay) Watersport team, which was awarded the silver medal for the second-highest points in watersport for the weekend.

The BC Winter and BC Summer Winter Games were established in 1978 to bring young people around BC together through sport and friendship. With over 2200 athletes competing in the games, team accommodations in local schools, group meals, travel to the event on busses, the event site on the shores of beautiful Ness Lake north of Prince George, and a chartered jet flying Zone 1 athletes direct from Cranbrook to Prince George, it was definitely a trip that will be remembered for a lifetime. The next BC Summer Games will be held in 2024.

Ryder and Dagen both ride the Phase 5 Matrix behind a 2022 Axis T250 from SWS Marine Group and train at Tie Lake, BC. They have been part of the Phase 5 team since 2018 and are currently looking forward to competing at Canadian Nationals.
