Phase 5: Hi Jayden, congrats on becoming a part of team Phase 5! Tell us a little about yourself. When did you start surfing and who got you into it?
Jayden:I began surfing in the ocean at a young age. It was mainly when we would go on vacation that offered warm water. I got involved in wakesurfing when my family and I moved to Table Rock Lake in October of 2020. My brother, Joey Harris, and I would wakesurf for fun, not realizing that wakesurfing was an actual competitive sport. Joey met Parks Bonifay on our lake and he is the one that introduced us to the competitive side of wakesurfing. My first competition was in Georgia at the WWA Masters in October 2021. My brother and I had no idea what we were doing or what to expect. But, after meeting so many kind people and experiencing the thrill of competing, I was hooked.

Phase 5: When did you start surfing and who do you usually ride with?
Jayden:I ride with my brother. He and my dad are my coaches. This is sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing in that it's my brother and dad telling me what to do. Anyone with a sibling knows what I’m talking about!

Phase 5: What board are you riding for 2023 and what do you like about it?
Jayden:I am riding the 53" Swell. I love how fast, responsive and light it is.

Phase 5: What are some of your hobbies outside of wakesurfing?
Jayden:When I am not wakesurfing, I am dancing. I have been a dancer since the age of 2 and started competing at the age of 5. I have continued my dance career by opening up my own dance studio at the age of 14. This has given me the opportunity to offer the kids in our small community a safe and fun place to dance and make friends.

Phase 5: What are some of your goals for the 2023 season?
Jayden:This year my goals are to compete, podium and continue learning new tricks. I will choose to have a positive mindset, stay focused, and push myself to the next level. I will have patience with my family's critiques, pray for perseverance, and truly strive to be the best me possible.

Phase 5: Do you ever ride skim style or are you surf style through-and-through?
Jayden:I have played around with skimming, but I am surf style 100%. It runs in my family!

Phase 5: We’re excited to see what 2023 brings for you, Jayden! Is there anyone you’d like to thank that helped you along the way?
Jayden:Yes, I would like to thank my brother for teaching me what he knows and for his patience. I would like to thank my dad for keeping me motivated and pushing me to my full potential. My mom is always there for me to make me smile by singing and dancing in the boat while I'm surfing and filming my progress. Without the love and support of my family, I would have never made it this far. I love them so much!
